This page presents links to websites that offer free tutoring or free information to help you succeed academically. But the key to academic success lies much closer to home than any of these websites. You are the key. If you truly want to succeed, these sites can help; but your desire, your attending to the task, is by far the strongest force in any endeavor. So, examine your motivation, focus your attention, and go talk to your most powerful ally, your teacher. Ideally, you will already have a good relationship with your teacher; but even if this is not the case, it is important that you let your teacher know of your desire to succeed. Often teachers are aware of various behaviors or problems that are keeping you from achieving the level of success you desire. Together, you will be able to work out a plan that puts you on the road to success. Now, if you've got yourself motivated and you've talked to your teacher, you are ready to explore some of these resources. Some of them offer for-fee services in addition to what they provide for free, but we believe that each of these sites offers something of value at no cost. If you find this is not so, or if one of them proves to be exceptionally useful, please let us know so that we can adjust our recommendations accordingly. If you know of other sites that should be listed here, please give the url to your guidance counsellor. Finally, we know you've heard it before, but we don't want to upset your notions of adults, so: come to class prepared, pay attention in class, ask questions if you don't understand, read the textbook, and do all your work. How can you not succeed? |
