West Indian Manatee

The Scientific Name: Trichechus manatus

Description:  It is a large gray or brown aquatic mammal. Adults average about 10 feet long and  weighs 1,000 pounds. Facts: They may migrate as far north as coastal.
Manatees inhabit both salt and fresh water. Between October and April, Florida manatees concentrate in warmer water. Manatees may not need fresh water.
