Proud and Responsible Communities in Iredell-Statesville (PARC)

PARC

Iredell-Statesville Schools, in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Piedmont, Statesville Housing Authority, The Partnership for Young Children, and the Iredell County Health Department, will be replicating two teen pregnancy prevention evidence-based programs. The combination of both programs will enable our community to achieve maximum success in preventing pregnancy or subsequent pregnancies in the teenage population. The PARC grant consists of two projects:

1. Making Proud Choices will be introduced in our nine middle schools, five high schools, two alternative schools, the Boys and Girls Club, the Statesville Housing Authority, and the Iredell County Health Department. The program will be held after school and on weekends and taught by trained health facilitators. The students attending will receive a stipend and transportation if necessary.

2. Be Proud! Be Responsible! Be Protective! addresses the community population of pregnant teens and teenage mothers. This program will be offered at five high school sites, two alternative schools, the Boys and Girls Club, the Statesville Housing Authority, and the Iredell County Health Department. Transportation, child care, and a stipend will be included for participants.
