If
you experience problems printing with Adobe, check your settings. Open
Adobe. Check to see which version is installed on your machine. Click on
Help,
About
Acrobat Reader if you are unsure of which version in installed.
For Adobe 6 & 7
- click on Edit, Preferences. Click on Internet from
the list on the left. Look under Web Browser Options. Make sure
there is not a check beside Display PDF in browser. If checked,
click to deselect. Click OK and close Adobe. When you try to print
a report, you will receive an option to open or save. Click
Open
and the report will open in a new window.
For Adobe 5 - click
on Edit, Preferences. Click on Options from the list
on the left. Look under Web Browser Options. Make sure there is
not
a check beside Display PDF in browser. If checked, click to deselect.
Click OK and close Adobe. When you try to print a report, you will
receive an option to open or save. Click

You
may need to change your pop-up blocker settings if you are having problems
accessing NCWISE. From Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Pop-Up
Blocker, Pop-Up Blocker Settings. Type the complete logon address
into the text box, click Add, and click Close.
If
you are unable to see the Progress Report when you click the printer
icon, check to see if you have pop-ups blocked. Follow the same steps show
above: From Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Pop-Up Blocker
Settings. Type the complete logon address into the text box, click
Add,
and click Close.
Internet
Explorer version 6.0 with Windows Service Pack 1 does not have the ability
to block pop-up windows. As a result, you do not need to take further action
to configure Internet Explorer. However, if you are using Internet Explorer
6.0 and having problems accessing websites that use pop-up windows, make
sure you have not installed additional pop up blocking software. If so,
uninstall immediately.
When
downloading J-initiator, allow Active X.
Keep
"Print in background" option set to "No."
If
you are unable to see your assignments on the Progress Report, check
to make sure you have entered a due date for each assignment. If the due
date is not entered, then the assignment will not print out on the progress
report. If the due date is out of range (the range set in the progress
report screen), then the assignment will not print out on the progress
report.
Always
leave Adobe Reader open when you are printing progress reports.
If you send the progress reports to the printer and then close Adobe Reader,
you may experience problems with printing.
If
your student roster doesn't appear in TAM, hit the F7 key
at the top of the keyboard to clear the data and hit the F8 key
at the top of the keyboard to populate the data.
Once
you logon to NCWISE, do not close or browse away from the Internet
Explorer window until you have completed your work.
If
GroupWise Messenger is open when you are working in NCWISE, it may cause
your computer to run slow.
There
are three ways to exit: Click the Exit door, click the cancel button
("X" in the top right corner of the application window,) or click
Action,
Exit.
If
the system becomes locked, minimize the eSIS window, maximize the
browser window and click the "X" (close button) in the upper right
corner of the browser window.
If
you receive a message stating that you have exceeded your simultaneous
sessions, you will need to log off and wait 30 minutes before logging back
on to NCWISE. Most likely your computer became locked and you had
to exit by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL several times. This means that
you have 3 lingering sessions on the NCWISE server. In NCWISE, you are
allowed at most 3 sessions at a time.
With
Windows 98 machines, you may need to disable your screen saver if NCWISE
locks up. Right click on the desktop, left click on Properties,
click on Screen Saver, click the drop down arrow by the screen saver,
click on None, click Apply, click OK.
