What We Offer:

In addition to the Standard Course of Study, all Brawley students are offered enrichment courses in art, band, music appreciation, computers, careers, and chorus.
 
Academically Gifted students are placed in an advanced communications class and/or an advanced math class. AG classes meet 85 minutes each day all year.
 
We offer before and after school tutoring, as well as remediation classes in math and language arts at all grade levels.
 
We participate in Arts & Science Heritage Week, Olympics of the Mind, State Spelling Bee, NC Science Fair, History Quiz Bowl, Science Quiz Bowl, MathCounts, and much more.
 
Student Assistance Programs provide guidance and Peer Mediation resolves conflicts.
 
Our Exceptional Children's Department offers a full spectrum of services: self-contained classrooms, pull-out resource, inclusion, and consultation.

Technology:

Classroom computers are networked through a fileserver in the media center. We also have Internet access in all classrooms.
 
Computers are used throughout the curriculum. In one of five computer labs, students learn telecommunications, database, spreadsheets, presentation software (MS Powerpoint), graphics, and keyboarding.

Citizenship Projects:
The Beta Club won the J.C. Penney and Golden Rule Award and the Governors Volunteer Award for its tutoring program at area elementary schools.
 
Other school community service projects include Adopt A Grandparent, canned food drives, used books drive, recycling club, Angel Tree, March of Dimes, United Way, school beautification & much more.

 What is a School of Distinction?

Brawley Middle School is honored as a "School of Distinction"by the North Carolina Board of Education as part of the ABCs of Public Schools Accountability Program. This is the third year in a row Brawley has been designated a "School of Distinction."Brawley is one of four "Schools of Distinction" in the Iredell-StatesvilleSchools system.

The honor is given to those schools that have 80% or more of their students performing at or above grade level on a compositeof theirEnd-of-Grade tests. In addition, the school must show"Exemplary" growth, which means students are growing10% or more above their expected levels between grades.

Brawley Middle is one of 9 schools in the Iredell-Statesville system that was recognized for achieving exemplary academic growth. Iredell-Statesville Schools has recognized Brawley Middle as a "Pacesetter School" for having achieved exemplary academic growth for three years in a row.
